Owner/manager/handywoman of the Franklin Guest House, Anna Sea lives with her family just 7 miles from the guest house. When there are no guests booked at FGH, she takes advantage of its space creatively. As you enter from the garage, the room to your left serves as Anna’s personal painting studio, while her ceramics studio resides in the cellar. And her welcome instructions – which included information about the area – were thoughtful, detailed and extremely helpful. The house itself is clean, beautiful and thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Anna has a great eye, and the house is full of an interesting mix of eclectic objects and art (including Anna’s own, which I loved). With the exception of one night I stayed there on my own, but I would have loved the kids to have been with me – it’s the kind of big, old house that can really capture the imagination.
